I hope everyone had a great 4th of July! Ours started off kind of like a normal day, but ended up being more of a Thanksgiving.
We were getting ready to go out for lunch with my mother in law when I got a Facebook message from a friend.
“Weird question, but do you all eat a lot of meat?”
From anyone else, that would seem like a weird question. I have learned to just roll with it when it comes to this friend. So I replied that no, chicken is more affordable for our family. I just figured that she had seen a sale somewhere and was wanting to give a heads up. She told me to drop by and pick up 2 coolers full of beef. She was cleaning out her freezers of food they weren’t eating.
I was going to make a crustless chicken pot pie for dinner. Because those were the ingredients that I had on hand.
Naturally, I drove over to her house and got the coolers. Michael just turned 14 and will be hitting that growth spurt soon. I have long been past the point of pride getting in my way. Instead of crustless chicken pot pie, we had steak for dinner
This was a blessing.
She is a blessing.
This isn’t the first time in the 7 years that I have known her that she has shared her abundance with us. And she does it in such a way that it never feels like charity. It’s just part of who she is. She is truly my role model.
Surround yourself with people like this. They bring out the best in everyone around them.
