I haven’t forgotten about Auggie’s travel through our library’s 100 Books to Read Before Kindergarten list. It has been a while since I’ve posted, but I knew that summer was coming and with summer comes the summer reading program and the summer lunch program. We are going to be spending a lot of time at the library. I needed a break.
The Three Ninja Pigs by Corey Rosen Schwartz was our next selection. It’s basically the tale of the 3 pigs but with martial arts. Auggie has been in a Kung Fu Panda kick, so he enjoyed this retelling. Lina enjoyed reading it to him as the third pig, you know the one that beats the wolf <Spoiler alert??>, is a girl. Not only is she a girl, but she is a strong girl. That point flew over Auggie’s head, but I wanted to include it in case you like to read stories of strong female characters to your little girls.
Our extension was to do a makeshift ninja warrior training camp in the backyard. I didn’t get any pictures because Auggie is potty training and we do bare butt potty training…..
Pictures would definitely get me in trouble.
But we have a couple small exercise trampolines, a large exercise ball, resistance bands, and wood leftover from home improvement projects. It doesn’t take much more than that. Auggie had a blast.
Michael and Lina want to make a bigger kid version so that they can have some ninja training this summer. We have a local ninja gym but with the layoff, that’s not going to happen unless my mother-in-law wants to pay for it.
