We homeschool. I don’t know if I mentioned that on here yet, but there it is. We aren’t religious homeschoolers, so we don’t really fit in the homeschool scene.
School starts back for my kids tomorrow or rather later this morning. I have an 8th grader, 6th grader, and a pre-pre-k’er (he is only 2). We are trying a more structured format this year due to my new position at work (I’ll get to that later). We use Time4Learning for our curriculum for the oldest 2 and ABCMouse for the baby. NOTE: I do a lot of hands-on activities with him, ABCMouse is just our set online curriculum.
I wish I could say that I got this all figured out or that I’m secure in our decision, but that would be a huge lie. We constantly have family members second guessing us, well-meaning friends pressuring us, and ourselves doubting us. This is what the kids want though. My oldest had issues with his elementary school’s special education dept and the fact that they didn’t follow his IEP. My middle child is just a wonderfully weird kid and free spirit. The school was crushing her- her last teacher would hit the desks with rulers to get the kids to pay attention; she was terrified of that woman.
MY PROMOTION. A year ago today I interviewed for a position with Taco Bell. They stuck me in the drive thru and I hated every moment in that restaurant. So I kept applying. Ended up getting a full-time cashier position in the food court of our local college. Two months before the end of the spring semester, they promoted me to lead cashier. This past Friday, I interviewed for and accepted a Supervisor position at the same location. I am super excited, and nervous, for this awesome opportunity. I plan on retaking the ACT because it’s been over 10 years since I’ve been a college student and my records have been wiped; then it’s on to Associate’s, Bachelor’s, and, then, a Master’s degree.
