A little confession, I love, LOVE, LOVE independent films. Now, I don’t know 100% that ‘Lion’ was, in fact, an independent film, but it fit my definition, so I watched it.

And I cried. And cried, and cried, and cried.

Despite being emotionally draining, it was a fantastic movie. It didn’t feel like a two-hour long movie because the pacing was PERFECT. It’s based on the nonfiction book, ‘A Long Way Home’ by Saroo Brierly. It’s a true story and I think that is what makes it so draining.

Without giving anything away, it’s a story about a 5-year-old Indian boy who gets lost and struggles to find his way home.

After we finished watching it, and I finished smothering my kids in hugs- seriously the 13 year old had to push against me to escape -hubby and I decided that I needed something with a little levity. So he started playing ‘Game of Thrones: Season 6″.

We are always behind on this show because we don’t have HBO. It costs too much, BUT we had a free trial offer through Amazon Prime for HBO shows. The game plan was to watch half the season on Sunday and the other half on Monday (these being hubby’s days off and, therefore, perfect for binge watching).

‘The Door’. It’s the freakin “Hold the door!” episode!

Keep in mind that we were watching because I was sad. That episode didn’t help. We ended up watching the other half of the season.

I really wish he would finish the last book in the ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ series. I’ve read the rest of the books and can’t stand that the show is ahead of the print.
